Jolly Teachers
In the academic year 2013 - 2014 we are very excited to be introducing the Jolly Phonics system of synthetic phonics in all our classes of very young learners ( 3 to 6 year olds).  The Jolly Phonics method has been successfully teaching children how to read and write in English for many years.  We always expect high standards from our students but next year we will be expecting even more.
All the teachers and administration staff at Tenidiomas have undergone jolly training - here we are with our certificates.
Check out these links if you would like to find out more about the Jolly method

Holding our Jolly Phonics certificates with pride!

Feria Writing Competition 2013

We had all the fun of the fair in this month's competition with our feria theme.  Claudia Castro Corrales is the winner of our 7 -11 year olds with her beautiful drawings of the casetas and people dancing.  her favourite thing about the feria is hotdogs!  Ana Navarro Diosdado produced a marvellous letter telling her penpal all about the feria - Ana's favourite thing about feria is the funfair.  What a shame that all the fun of feria is over for another year - although you can come and see the displays of our students' work if you are missing it already.

Dalia and her proud students congratulate their classmate!

Dalia shows her beaming smile as her students have won both categories this month!

It's winner's row!  Here is Ana with her classmates who are all ex -writing competition stars!
It's difficult to believe that we only have one more writing competition before the end of term - let's make the next one the best ever!

You had to be brave to walk the corridors as all kinds of witches and demons could be seen!

Even the Grim Reaper has to do his homework!

Our Movers students made a magic spell!

Zombies stalked the academy!

Our Movers 2 class made a super scary effort - What a terrifying group!

Starters 1 - Vampires and witches galore

Starters 2 - A coven of witches came to school to cause mayhem!

Halloween Writing Competition 2012

Lucia and her classmates
The winners of our spook-tastic Halloween writing competition are Lucia Vega and  Manuel Graván Bru. Lucia told us all about her best friend who is a ghost called Billy!  Billy likes dancing to Michael Jackson and dressing up like him too!  Manuel wrote an invitation to a party where we will ' ...drink blood and listen to strange, dark music'.  Sounds like a good party!  Watch this space for pictures of our Halloween festivities - If you are the sensitive type, avoid Tenidiomas on Tuesday and Wednesday because it will be full of vampires, witches and terrible monsters!

Summer Intensive Courses

Our Summer programme starts on Monday 2nd July at Tenidiomas, Jerez.  We have semi-intensive (6 hours per week) and intensive (12 hours a week) courses at B1 PETB2 FCE and C1 CAE levels.  The courses will finish with a Cambridge exam at the end of the month.  There are a limited number of spaces still available on some courses.  Contact the school for more information.

End of term 2011 -2012

End of Term 2011 -2012
It's been the best year ever at Tenidiomas. Our young learners have worked very hard to pass their Starters, Movers and Flyers exams which, for the first time, were incorporated into the course.  I bet you can't wait for September to get your certificates!  Our KET, PET, FCE and CAE students have gone from strength to strength.  You should all be very proud of yourselves - you all deserve a break before we get back to the classroom in September.
We have some sad news too!  Alan Higgs will not be coming back to teach in September as he will be focusing on his own school Study English Paterna.  Alan has been with us since 2007 and has shared a lot of fun and laughter with his fellow teachers and students alike.  But don't despair!  Alan will stay on in his role as chief invigilator for the Cambridge exams so you will definitely see him on your exam day and he has promised to come and visit us whenever he can.  Thanks so much Alan - We will miss you!

The new term starts on September 17th.  Remember to reserve your place before the 15th July to ensure you get your class /time.

Don't forget all your English over the summer!
We don't mean you have to study but carry on reading books in English, doing puzzles and listening to songs to make sure all your hard work doesn't go to waste.
Our end of term party!  Students playing musical madness!
Playing a game of 'pass the parcel' with forfeits!
Forfeits including doing an impression of
a crocodile and playing paper, scissors, stone with your feet!

Have a great Summer!

Margarita with her 'Movers' classmates
 The Writing Competition Winners
The theme of the May/June Writing Competition was, of course, FERIA!!!!!  This really captured the imagination of our young writers and the quality of the entries was exceptional.
The winner of the 7-11 age group is Margarita Ucha Daza.  Her creativity and motivation really stood out.  Here you can see Margarita and her friends and teacher Rachel who were over the moon for her.
Margarita with her teacher Rachel
The winner of the 12 -16 age group is Manuel Gravan Brú he wrote an excellent letter to a penfriend inviting them to the Feria and explaining how his favourite thing about the feria was the fairground.
Manuel receives his certificate and book from Rachael
Manuel and his KET classmates will be sitting their exams in less than a month!

The good news is that we have two excellent winners but the bad news is that this is the last writing competition of 2011 - 2012.  Our students are going to be too busy studying for their Cambridge exams this month!    Thank you for all your dedication this year and don't be too sad as the writing competition will be back in October 2012.

The Plural Poem
Having problems with plural nouns?
Maybe this poem can help you out!

We’ll begin with box, and the plural is boxes,
But the plural of ox should be oxen, not oxes.
Then one fowl is goose, but two are called geese,
Yet the plural of moose should never be meese.

You may find a lone mouse or a whole lot of mice,
But the plural of house is houses, not hice.
If the plural of man is always called men,
Why shouldn’t the plural of pan be pen?
The cow in the plural may be cows or kine,
But the plural of vow is vows, not vine.
And I speak of a foot, and you show me your feet,
But I give a boot… would a pair be beet?
If one is a tooth, and a whole set is teeth,
Why shouldn’t the plural of booth be beeth?

If the singular is this, and the plural is these,
Why shouldn’t the plural of kiss be kese?
Then one may be that, and three be those,
Yet the plural of hat would never be hose.
We speak of a brother, and also of brethren,
But though we say mother, we never say methren.

The masculine pronouns are he, his and him,
But imagine the feminine she, shis, and shim.
So our English, I think you will agree,
Is the trickiest language you ever did see!

No wonder the English language is so very difficult to learn.  I sometimes wonder how we manage to communicate at all!
See if you can do the exercise from memory!

We'll begin with a box and the plural is .
But the plural of should be oxen, not oxes.

The one fowl is a but two are called geese,
Yet the plural of should never be meese.

You may found a lone mouse or a whole set of ,
Yet the plural of is houses not hice.

If the plural of is always called men,
Why shouldn't the plural of be called pen?

If I speak of a and you show me your feet,
And I give you a , would a pair be called beet?

If one is a tooth and a whole set are ,
Why should not the plural of booth be called beeth?

Then one may be that and three would be those,
Yet in the plural wouldn't be hose.
And the plural of is cats and not cose.

We speak of a and also of brethren,
But though we say , we never say Methren,

Then the masculine pronouns are he, his and ,
But imagine the feminine , shis and shim,

So English, I fancy you will all agree,
Is the funniest language you ever did see.
